This is an early Bronze Age Instruction Manual. Made thousands of years before Ogham as we know it in 2nd century. I think this is a signpost and a user manual to describe how the line of stones at Parc y Meirw work. The line of single large stones, found nowhere else in West Wales, line up with the Wicklow Hills in Ireland. When the moon is seen rolling down Leinster Mountain, there will be a sun or moon eclipse the following day. AMAZING. To see this spectacle, once every 18 years, you need to sit in a specially cut chair in the rocks on Garn Fawr and hope the visibility to Ireland happens to be good!
This photo, courtesy of Martin Coleman, was taken on a cold winter's day at Garn Enoch, the boulders above Dinas Cross.
The book also includes some of Newport's historic monuments of which there are hundreds.
Nowhere else in Wales has so many dolmens, pilgrim crosses, standing stones and ogham writings as Newport and Nevern .
